Our Story

A Practice Built Around the Document

Boon Counsel was founded in Bangkok by practitioners who had spent years observing a common problem: clients arriving with pension disputes that had already become complicated — often because early correspondence had been misread, or because no one had taken the time to read the original decision carefully.

The practice was established with a single operating principle: that pension matters benefit most from a thorough reading of the available record before any position is taken. We begin every matter with a written intake, review the documents in full, and discuss the options with the client before any external step is taken.

Over the years, we have developed particular experience in cross-border matters — a growing area of need among those who have worked across Southeast Asia and beyond, and who find themselves managing contribution histories held by multiple authorities in multiple languages.

We are based in Silom, Bangkok, and work with clients across Thailand and with those abroad who have Thai pension entitlements to pursue. We conduct our work in English and coordinate translation support where other languages are required.

Our Mission

"To give each pension matter the careful reading it deserves — and to advise clients honestly about what the record shows and what it does not."

Our Standards

How We Conduct Our Work

Written Intake Process

Every matter begins with a structured written intake. We take this step before forming any view on the case, because the record matters more than first impressions.

Strict Confidentiality

Client documents and correspondence are held securely and shared only with those who need them to progress the matter. We comply with applicable data protection requirements under Thai law.

Regular Written Updates

We do not wait for clients to chase us. Written updates are provided at each meaningful stage of a matter, with copies of all submissions and correspondence shared as they are sent.

Thailand Law Society Membership

Our practitioners are registered with the Lawyers Council of Thailand and hold current practising certificates. Professional conduct requirements apply to all client work.

Independent Case Review

Before any external submission is filed, the matter is reviewed by a second practitioner not involved in the day-to-day handling. This step catches errors and strengthens the file.

Realistic Timelines

Pension proceedings with government authorities move at their own pace. We give clients an honest account of likely timelines from the start, and update them when circumstances change.

Practice Values

The Principles That Shape Our Work

Pension entitlement matters are rarely simple. A working life spent across borders, within different industries, or subject to changing employment arrangements produces a contribution record that requires careful reading. Where the record is incomplete or contested, that reading becomes even more important. Our approach is to proceed methodically — to understand what the documents actually show before forming a view on what can be done.

We are particularly familiar with the Thai Social Security system and with the administrative processes of several neighbouring jurisdictions. For clients who have returned to Thailand after working abroad, or who are abroad and seeking to access Thai pension entitlements, we coordinate the documentation process in full, including written communication with each relevant authority and coordination of translation where required.

In formal appeal proceedings, our preparation is grounded in the specific terms of the original decision. We identify the legal and factual points that are genuinely arguable, prepare a written submission that addresses those points directly, and attend any oral hearing with the client. We do not make representations we cannot support with the available record.

Boon Counsel operates from Silom, in the heart of Bangkok's professional district. Clients are welcome to attend in person or to conduct their matter entirely in writing — whichever is more practical for their circumstances.
